- make a short comic (5-7 pg MAX)
- come up with an original world/story/character
- design characters & BG on the fly
- be looser with inks
- B/W tone, no colour!
Just create something as fast/short as possible and different from TWTHN. The only restriction was it had to be shrimp related. It was originally a submission for a zine some friends were making, but I missed the deadline due to some life happenings and cleanup was taking longer than I’d hoped (I did submit an illustration). Overall time spent chipping away at it over the past year-ish was 159hrs, which averages out to 32hrs/page. Definitely faster than TWTHN pages, but not fast enough.
What’s most important is I’ve figured out the groundwork for future chapters. There is so much more story to mine with these characters, and in this world… I’m excited to keep writing! It won’t be a full-on graphic novel, but something more bite-sized. No set date, as I’d like to figure out the rest of the story first…
